'My Name is Ruth' Meets Fringe

This past Sunday 'Ruth' attended its first NYC event at the Fringe Town Meeting held in The New School of Drama.

34west road manager Barb Scott flew in to town to introduce 178 other shows to 34west.

Barb and 'Ruth' did extremely well!

We're quickly becoming HUGE fans of the leadership and mantra of this festival. Here's a quote from the event coordinator and Present Theatre Company Artistic Director, Elena Holy.

(This will help you get a perspective of what the festival is all about)

"This festival runs on an energy created by a community of artists, audience and volunteers that is ever growing. And this energy is not petroleum based and it is a domestic product. And if there was a plume of it headed toward Manhattan right now that wouldn't be a bad thing. It is based on some strange alchemy that I have never quite been able to quantify...or even articulate. If I could bottle it and sell it, I'd be a wealthy woman...Every person in this room is a crucial part of the success of FringeNYC. And at FringeNYC, success has nothing to do with box office or Broadway. We measure success with one new butt in a seat...one opened mind...one child's smile...one new perspective...one New York premiere...one moment of beauty...one sixteen day sense of community...and that all started when our 80 adjudicators and panelists poured over your individual applications and chose you to be a part of this community."

So needless to say, our first Fringe moment was a good one.

One that deserved a celebratory reward of FABRIC and SWEETS for our ACR.

...bribery for having to speak publicly in front of a bunch of theatre people!
