The upcoming production of DANIEL was originally a series of dramatic monologues that told the story of two men- Daniel and his security officer, Ash. The first draft of the play was somber, reflective, and slightly depressing.
So after reading the first draft, Jeffrey Querin slapped playwright Stephen W. Baldwin up alongside the head and out came a second draft- an amusing, heartfelt reflection on the book of Daniel as seen by his two closest and often dorky friends...Shadrach and Meshack.
We like to think of it as "Shawshank Redemption" meets "Geek Squad".
It's also a friendly and comical way of describing a play that was first created to take place in a post-apocalyptic prison.
But at the end of January, for just a few dark wintery nights, a limited run of an enchanting production will be seen in Northeast Ohio.
That was on purpose, you know.
It's usually an unlikely group of misfits and outcasts who brave the elements to experience something extraordinary.
Just like Daniel and his friends, actually. A little know fact.
